The Harbour Deckhouse

The Harbour Deckhouse is a unique self-catering holiday home on the West Sussex - Hampshire border between Portsmouth and Chichester and is perfectly situated to explore the South Coast. Appealing all the year round the picturesque harbour side village of Emsworth is surrounded by wonderful countryside, close to idyllic sandy beaches and near to many historical sites, fabulous shopping and fine dining, making it one of the best seaside locations.

Built on the foreshore overlooking Emsworth harbour at the edge of Thorney Island, the house affords an enviable position amongst the hustle and bustle of the working yacht harbour during weekdays and then the peace and tranquility of being right by the water’s edge in the evenings and weekends. Ideal for a wide range of activities such as sailing, cycling, walking, shopping, bird watching, kayaking, fishing or just relaxing on the balcony or side deck it is the ideal waterside retreat. A short walk through the marina, then an amble beside the tranquil 'Mill Pond' brings you into the heart of Emsworth village where you will discover a wide range of homely pubs, fine restaurants and shops. Also mainline train services and south coast bus routes, are all within easy walking distance.

Uniquely built on stilts all the accommodation is on the first floor, providing sheltered parking below for cars, boats or bicycles. At ground level is the front door and cloakroom, with stairs leading up to the main living area. Off the landing is a open-plan lounge-dining kitchen space, a master bedroom and another double bedroom with a luxury shared bathroom. Large sliding glass doors in the living room and master bedroom open onto the best feature of the property the sunny west-facing balcony with lovely sea and marina views. There are two more doors off of the kitchen/living area that lead to a larger side deck with dining table and seating for four, along with sun loungers and even a retractable privacy screen! The house has a delightful warm, light and airy feel and has been completely modernised and refurbished by the current owners to exacting standards.

The comfortable lounge has a cosy sofa and two armchairs to enjoy the wide screen TV along with freeview, Netflix and a broadband connection. The decor has a rustic Scandinavian feel, with subtle coastal vibes. There is a small dining area and a fully equipped handmade kitchen with all the amenities needed for a long or short stay. There are Neff ovens and induction hob, a 50s retro Smeg fridge/freezer, Smeg dishwasher. Everything is provided for food preparation, cooking and serving for every occasion. Nespresso capsules are provided, along with granulated coffee, tea bags and sugar. A complimentary bottle of Chapel Down English Sparkling Wine is also provided.

The main bedroom has glorious sea and marina views from the five-foot luxury double bed. The smaller second double bedroom sleeps two in comfort and is ideal for a couple, children or other family members.

A luxury monochrome bathroom has a large walk-in thermostatic shower, a vanity unit, a heated towel rail. White Company Towels and either White Company or Pink Chalk Linen Company linens are provided. Toiletries are provided from high end British company Noble Isle.

The Harbour deckhouse is your home away from home. Perhaps that’s why so many people return. It is the perfect coastal location to unwind, relax and take in the sea air. It’s ideal for a long weekend, or even a full holiday. Everyone that stays wants to stay longer.
